OUR EDUCATION & YOUTH/FAMILY PROGRAMS

Sunday School for children of all ages and Youth & Adult Bible Classes are held each Sunday at 11:00 am.

Infants and Toddlers    Each family with children under 3 years old receive The Growing in Christ Nursery Roll and Together with Jesus materials to help them as parents introduce Jesus' love to their child before they begin attending Sunday school.

Current Sunday Adult Classes    We have Bible Class Sunday mornings at 8:00 am and Sunday mornings at 11:00 am.

Devotions for your Family   The Sunday School and Board of Christian Education wants to give you tools to help you develop a personal and family devotion time at your home.  As part of Sunday School, we are giving each family different devotion books to use.  Each family will receive the following if you have a child in that age group:

Happy Times is the devotion book to use with your child, K-3 – 2nd Grade.  This devotion will come monthly in your church box.

My Devotions is the devotion book to use with your child,3rd – 5th Grade.  This devotion will come quarterly in your church box.

Vacation Bible School is offered in the evenings for one week each summer for children who are 3 years old through those who have finished the 5th grade.  Youth and adults can sign up to be helpers. Guest and children living in the nearby community are encouraged to attend.  This next summer, gear up the summer fun at Planet Zoom!   Join us Summer of 2010 for Planet Zoom, an all-new VBS program!  Planet Zoom is where kids are swarming to Planet Zoom where bold believers Zip, Zap and Zoom for Jesus!

Confirmation Classes are held once a week throughout the school year for 6th and 7th graders. In these classes the doctrines of the Lutheran Church are explained and taught using Luther’s Small Catechism to prepare the student for adult membership in the Lutheran Church.

Midweek Bible Classes   A variety of topics are offered weekly in Adult Bible classes on Tuesdays at 10:00am and 7:00pm.  Join us as we currently are studying “Today’s Light” – a study of the whole Bible in two years.   Check the current calendar to see when other classes and small groups are being offered.

Adult Information Classes are conducted regularly throughout the year to introduce the Lutheran teachings to adults interested in memberships in the Lutheran Church. Members wishing to review the Lutheran doctrines are also invited to attend.

Youth & Family Ministry   Immanuel Lutheran is blessed with two youth groups that have activities throughout the year.  Our purpose as Immanuel Lutheran Youth is to serve Christ, serve others, witness our faith, and have Christian fellowship.

The Jr. Youth Group is the 6-8 graders who meet every 2nd & 4th  Wednesdays for  Youth Nights from 6:00-7:15.  This includes a meal, devotions, Bible study, games, service projects, crafts…something different each week of the month.   We have some other varied activities during the year and multiple summer activities.

The Sr. Youth Group is the 9-12 graders who meet on Sunday mornings and for Youth Nights too!  We try and plan one other activity during the month such as service projects, trips to the lake, outings and more! We have a variety of summer events.  We also attend the triennial National Youth Gathering.

The youth and church members are very active with Servant Activities.  We have Adopt-A-Highway cleanups 3 times a year, making cookies for Kairos Prison Ministry, helping with child care at church activities, helping pack food boxes once at month at God’s Pantry, making bandages for missions, helping with projects at church, our annual Cross Walk and more.  We also have Mission Trips (2008 Mexico Mission Trip shown here, Hurricane Relief, etc.) that are open to Sr. Youth through adults (or younger if accompanied by a parent).  .

Friends are always welcome at our events.

We are also actively planning Family Events for our congregation that happen at least quarterly throughout the year to build our relationships with each other.  Some events in the past have been:  Skating Party, Rafting Trip, Snow Skiing Trip, Harvest Festival, Health Fair, Church Picnic, and more!
