OUR EDUCATION & YOUTH PROGRAMS

Sunday School for children of all ages and Youth & Adult Bible Classes are held each Sunday from 9:15 until 10:15.  We have an opening for K3-8th Grade in the Sanctuary that involves songs, birthday celebrations, skits, puppets, and more!

 

Infants and Toddlers    Each family with children under 3 years old receive The Growing in Christ Nursery Roll and Together with Jesus materials to help them as parents introduce Jesus' love to their child before they begin attending Sunday school.

 

Current Sunday Adult Classes    We have 2 classes for Sunday Mornings at 9:15am.  Join us for one of the following classes as we grow together in God’s Word!

  • “A Study of the Lessons”   Paul Wagenknecht will be leading this class as participants are given the opportunity to explore thematic studies from the Old Testament, Epistle and Gospel lessons that are appointed for each Sunday and festival day.  The class will be in the Education wing.
  •   “The Lutheran Difference:  End Times” Millennium.  Revelation.  Rapture.  Eternity.  So many opinions.  What do you believe?  Join us as we study these issues on Sunday Mornings.   This class also meets in the Education wing.

 

Devotions for your Family   The Sunday School and Board of Christian Education wants to give you tools to help you develop a personal and family devotion time at your home.  As part of Sunday School, we are giving each family different devotion books to use.  Each family will receive the following if you have a child in that age group:

Happy Times is the devotion book to use with your child, K-3 – 2nd Grade.  This devotion will come monthly in your church box.

My Devotions is the devotion book to use with your child,3rd – 5th Grade.  This devotion will come quarterly in your church box.

4Word is the devotion book for the youth (6th – 12th) in your family.  Each youth gets their own personal copy.  Their devotions connect with the lesson studied that week in Youth Bible Class.

Vacation Bible School is offered in the evenings for one week each summer for children Preschool through the 5th grade.  Youth  and adults can sign up to be helpers. through the Bible to meet Jesus, our Forever Friend.  Kids find fun, faith, and friends at Friendship Trek. They experience Jesus’ friendship, enjoy meeting old and new friends, and learn to care for one another. Friends are so important to kids. Everyone experiences the joys and disappointments of relationships. Friendship Trek tackles hot friendship topics like inclusion, making new friends, bullying, caring for friends, and sharing Christ with our friends. Wonderful Wednesdays!  During the school year, join us for Midweek classes (3-5 grades), Confirmation classes (6-7 grades)  Classes start at 5:00pm with the Meals at 6:00pm for all ages.

 

Confirmation Classes are held once a week throughout the school year for 6th and 7th graders. In these classes the doctrines of the Lutheran Church are explained and taught using Luther’s Small Catechism to prepare the student for adult membership in the Lutheran Church.

 

Midweek Classes are offered for 3-5 graders during the week.  In these classes, students have the opportunity to grow in their faith and relationships with one another! 

 

Midweek Bible Classes   A variety of topics are offered weekly in Adult Bible classes on Tuesdays at 10:00am and 7:00pm.  Join us as we currently are studying “The Book of Psalms”.  Check the current calendar to see when other classes and small groups are being offered.

 

Adult Information Classes are conducted regularly throughout the year to introduce the Lutheran teachings to adults interested in memberships in the Lutheran Church. Members wishing to review the Lutheran doctrines are also invited to attend.

 

Youth & Family Ministry   Immanuel Lutheran is blessed with two youth groups that have activities throughout the year.  Our purpose as Immanuel Lutheran Youth is to serve Christ, serve others, witness our faith, and have Christian fellowship.

The Jr. Youth Group is the 6-8 graders who meet every Wednesday for Jr. Youth Nights from 6:00-7:15 starting Sept. 26.  This includes a meal, devotions, Bible study, games, service projects, crafts…something different each week of the month.  -2 times a month on varied days.  We have some other varied activities during the year and multiple summer activities.

The Sr. Youth Group is the 9-12 graders who meet on the 3rd Sunday of the month with one other activity during the month such as service projects, trips to the lake, outings and more! We have a variety of summer events.  We also attend the triennial National Youth Gathering.

The youth and church members are very active with Servant Activities.  We have Adopt-A-Highway cleanups 3 times a year, making cookies for Kairos Prison Ministry, helping with child care at church activities, helping pack food boxes once at month at God’s Pantry, making bandages for missions, helping with projects at church, our annual Cross Walk and more.  We also have Mission Trips (Mexico Mission Trip shown here, Hurricane Relief, etc.) that are open to Sr. Youth through adults (or younger if accompanied by a parent).  Contact the church about the Mexico Mission Trip to Juarex, MX, June 7-14, 2008. 

 

Friends are always welcome at our events.

 

We are also actively planning Family Events for our congregation that happen at least quarterly throughout the year to build our relationships with each other.  Some events in the past have been:  Skating Party, Rafting Trip, Snow Skiing Trip, Harvest Festival & Health Fair, Church Picnic, and more!
